Complex estimation of economic potential of agricultural enterprises (resources, economic environment, and management) allows determining of competitiveness of the branch and appears an important criterion of effective realization of management decisions. The paper substantiates the theoretical approaches to the mechanism of formation of the economic potential of processing enterprises of the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Belarus and its’ structural elements, such as all types of resources, effective resource utilization and ability to satisfy the market requirements in accordance to internal and external factors. The methodology of integral estimation of the economic potential of processing enterprises of the agro-industrial complex is developed. Conceptual scheme of system model of formation and development of economic potential of the processing enterprises is suggested. The most important structural elements of economic potential of the processing enterprises of agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Belarus are determined. Among them are: resources, management, export, information, marketing, investments and innovations. The methodological principals of the complex estimation of economic efficiency of agricultural processing enterprises are substantiated that allows working out the strategy for their development under competitive conditions.
