SUBSTITUTION OF DIFFERENT LEVELS OF MAIZE BY CUBAN ENSILED FEED (AEC) IN DIETS FOR GROWING/FATTENING PIGS | SUSTITUCIÓN DE DIFERENTES NIVELES DE MAÍZ POR ALIMENTO ENSILADO CUBANO (AEC) EN DIETAS PARA CERDOS EN CRECIMIENTO/CEBA

English. 80 hybrid pigs of commercial breeding Yorkshire x Landrace x Duroc, castrated males and females in equal proportion of 85 days old with an average initial weight of 30.0 kg, were used. The pigs were distributed according to a design of random blocks in four experimental treatments and 20 replicates per treatment (position inside the pen), to study the effect on the main performance traits substituting maize (0, 33, 66 and 100 % in a conventional diet of maize and soybeans) for roots and tubers silage, produced in an industrial plant. Each treatment was represented by a level of substitution of corn in the diet and each replica by an animal. Animal performance traits were measured: feed intake (kg), average daily gain (g/day) and feed conversion (kg feed/kg gain. The results obtained in average daily gain, final weight and feed conversion were similar to the 0, 33 and 66% substitution of maize for ensiled feed to be compared different 822, 821 and 803 g; 112.2, 114.3 and 110.1 kg; 3.28, 3.21 and 3.38 kg/kg, respectively. However, where maize was replaced by a 100% these indices were affected (646 g/day, 102.5 kg and 4.18 kg/kg). This study demonstrated that it is possible substitute up to 66% of maize as energy source in the diet by this type of silage. In extreme cases of lack of food, the substitution can be up to 100%

Se utilizaron 80 cerdos híbridos de cruce comercial Yorkshire x Landrace x Duroc, machos castrados y hembras en igual proporción de 85 días de edad con un peso inicial promedio de 30.0 kg. Los cerdos fueron distribuidos según un diseño de bloques al azar en cuatro tratamientos experimentales y 20 réplicas por tratamiento (posición dentro de la nave), para estudiar el efecto sobre los rasgos de comportamiento de los animales de la sustitución del maíz (0, 33, 66 y 100 % en una dieta convencional de maíz y soya) por un ensilaje de raíces y tubérculos, producido en un planta industrial. Cada tratamiento estuvo representado por un nivel de sustitución del maíz en la dieta y cada réplica por un animal. Se midieron los rasgos de comportamiento animal: consumos de alimento (kg), ganancia media diaria (g/día) y la conversión alimentaria (kg alimento/kg ganancia). Los resultados obtenidos en la ganancia media diaria, el peso final y la conversión alimentaria son similares para el 0, 33 y 66 % de sustitución de maíz por el alimento ensilado al comparase las diferentes dietas: 822, 821 y 803; 112.2, 114.3 y 110. 1; 3.28, 3.21 y 3.38, respectivamente. Sin embargo, cuando se sustituye el maíz al 100 % se aprecia una afectación de estos indicadores (646; 102.5 y 4.18). Esta prueba realizada demostró que se puede sustituir el maíz en la dieta como fuente de energía hasta un 66 % de este tipo de ensilado y en casos extremos de falta de alimento, la sustitución puede ser hasta del 100 %.
