PATRON DE CONSUMO DE CERDOS ENFRENTADOS A DIETAS CON GRANOS CRUDOS O ENSILADOS DE FRIJOL DE CANAVALIA | PATTERN OF FEED INTAKE OF PIGS GIVEN DIETS OF RAW OR ENSILED CANAVALIA GRAINS

Se midió el patrón de consumo de 20 cerdos de cruce comercial machos castrados y hembras con un peso promedio de aproximadamente 80 kg que fueron enfrentados a dietas que contenían 25% de harina de canavalia cruda o ensilada, más 0 y 10% de melaza de caña de azúcar, en pruebas de aceptación de corto plazo (tres días). El experimento se diseñó en arreglo factorial 2 x 2 donde los factores fueron el tipo de canavalia y la presencia o no de melaza. Tanto en el tercero como en el primer día, las ecuaciones descriptivas de los efectos sobre el consumo fueron estadísticamente muy confiables, con valores de R20.95 y con un gran margen de confianza (P0.01). La velocidad de ingestión del alimento comercial estuvo en los rangos de 146-152 g/hora para el grupo control, y de 140-199 y 151-176 g/hora para los grupos sin melaza y con canavalia cruda o ensilada, y de 150-155 y 149-174 g/hora para los grupos con melaza y con canavalia cruda o ensilada, respectivamente, en los Días 1 y 3, cuando solamente se les dio raciones iguales al control. En el segundo día, estos cuatro grupos enfrentados a las dietas con canavalia no consumieron cantidades apreciables de alimento y no se identificaron ecuaciones de regresión significativas (P0.05). Se sugiere que con la prueba de aceptación a corto plazo es posible cuantificar el patrón de consumo de los cerdos.

The pattern of feed intake was measured in 20 crossbred, castrated male and female pigs averaging approximately 80 kg live weight, which were given diets containing 25% raw or ensiled canavalia beans, plus 0 and 10% sugar cane molasses, in short term (three days) acceptability tests. The experiment was designed as a 2 x 2 factorial arrangement where the factors were the type of canavalia and the presence or not of molasses. In the third and first days, equations describing the effects on consumption were statistically very reliable, which values of R20.95 and a great confidence margin (P0.01). Rate of feed intake of the commercial feed was in the ranges of 146-151 g/hour for the control group, and 140-199 and 151-176 g/hour for those groups without molasses and raw or ensiled canavalia, and 150-155 and 149-174 g/hour for groups with molasses and raw or ensiled canavalia, respectively, on Days 1 and 3, when they were only given rations equal o the control. In the second day, these four groups given diets with canavalia did not eat appreciable amounts of feed and no significant (P0.05) regression equations were identified. It is suggested that it is possible to quantify the pattern of feed intake of pigs by the short term acceptability test.
