EVALUATION OF PRODUCTIVE PARAMETERS IN WEANED PIGS FED ON RATIONS ADDED WITH Origanum sp AND Stevia rebaudiana | EVALUACIÓN DE LOS PARÁMETROS DE PRODUCCIÓN EN LECHONES DESTETADOS ALIMENTADOS CON RACIONES ADICIONADAS CON Origanum sp Y Stevia rebaudiana

Los objetivos del trabajo fueron evaluar los parámetros productivos y la prevalencia de diarrea en lechones destetados a los 21 días y hasta la quinta semana posdestete, cuyas raciones fueron adicionadas con orégano (Origanum sp) y estevia (Stevia rebaudiana). Cada semana durante cinco semanas se compararon tres tratamientos con tres repeticiones cada uno: control (77 animales), orégano deshidratado al 0.06% (88 animales) y estevia deshidratada al 0.4% (90 animales). Además se aisló e identificó al microorganismo presente en muestras de materia fecal diarreicas y se determinó la importancia de la enfermedad. No se hallaron diferencias significativas (P0.05) en la ganancia de peso total, consumo total, ganancia de peso promedio y consumo promedio, pero el índice de conversión general del tratamiento con orégano fue significativamente mayor al control. La prevalencia de diarrea con orégano y stevia fue significativamente menor (P0.05) que en el control en la primera semana posdestete y no se aislaron cepas de Escherichia coli enteropatógenas de muestras de materia fecal diarreicas provenientes de los tratamientos con aditivos vegetales, diferenciándose con lo hallado en el control. Las ganancias de peso acumuladas fueron superiores con orégano y stevia, 626 y 960 g/día respectivamente, y no se observó además depresión en el consumo de alimento. La inclusión de productos naturales como el orégano y la estevia en las raciones de lechones destetados podría constituir una herramienta importante para mejorar el desempeño productivo en los animales.

The objectives were to evaluate the productive parameters and the prevalence of diarrhoea in piglets weaned at 21 days and until the fifth post-weaning week, whose rations were added with origanum (Origanum sp) and stevia (Stevia rebaudiana). Three treatments with three replicates were compared every week during five weeks, control (77 animals), 0.06% dried origanum (88 animals) and 0.4% dried stevia (90 animals). The microorganisms present in diarrhoeic faecal samples were isolated and identified, and the importance of disease was determined. There were not significant (P0.059 differences in total weight gain, total consumption, average weight gain and average consumption, but the general conversion index was significantly higher in the treatment with origanum with respect to the control. Diarrhoea prevalence with origanum and stevia was significantly (P0.05) lower than control in the first week after weaning and there were not isolated strains of entero-pathogenic Escherichia coli in diarrhoeic faecal samples from the treatments with vegetable additives, differing with the findings of control. Weight gains accumulated were higher with oregano and stevia, 626 and 960 g/day respectively. In addition, no depression in feed intake was observed. The inclusion of these natural product, origanum and stevia, in diets for weaned piglets could be an important tool to improve the productive performance of animals.
