Рассматривается понятие устойчивое развитие региона и факторы, влияющие на него. Предложен методический инструментарий оценки социально-экономической устойчивости развития региона. Проведен анализ социально-экономического развития Могилевской области и разработаны рекомендации в области проведения экономической политики обеспечения устойчивого развития. Проведенные исследования показали, что источниками ‘точек роста’ региональной экономики могут быть конкурентные преимущества территорий, инновации, эффект масштаба производства, вовлечение уникальных или специфических ресурсов и факторов, создание инфраструктурных условий для развития предпринимательства, расширение спроса на товары и услуги на внутреннем и внешнем рынках, новые механизмы управления, привлечение инвестиций, предпринимательская активность, организационные и институциональные инновации.
