Comparison of tomato germplagm under infield sandy soil and poor alluvial soil conditions in spring- summer 2014 at Thua Thien - Hue

The experiment was conducted using 13 introduced tomato accessions and one local variety under infield sandy soil and poor alluvial soil conditions in spring-summer 2014 at Thua Thien Hue. The experiment was laid out in RCD with 5 m2 each accession. The results showed that all accessions can grow better under poor alluvial soil than infield sandy soil. Ability of flowering, fruiting, brix and disease infection of the tomato accessions were higher under poor alluvial soil condition. The number of seeds was highest for G9 under infield sandy soil and for G5 under poor alluvial soil. CLN2037B was the one had lowest number of seed under both conditions. Under infield sandy soil condition, G9, CLN2001A, CLN1621L and CLN2418A had higher yield than the others; ca chua Bi ├░ia phuong, G80, G50, G43 and G69 had higher brix than the others; G50, G69, G5, G9 and CLN1621L had higher level of susceptibility than the others. Ca chua Bi ├░ia phuong, G9, CLN2001A, CLN162lLand CLN2418A were promising accessions growing under infield sandy soil condition. Under poor alluvial condition, G5, G9, CLN2001A, CLN1621L, CL5915, CLN2418A and CLN2037B had higher yield than the others; Cherry tomato (control check), G41, G80, G50, G44, CLN2001A and CLN1621L had higher brix than the others; G50, G44, G5, and CLN2037B had higher level of susceptibility than the others. G5, G9, CLN2001A, CLN1621L, CLN5915, CLN2418A and CLN2037B were promising accessions growing under poor alluvial soil condition.
