Evaluation on growih, development and yield of salty tolerance rice varieties in 2013-2014 in Quang Phuoc commune, Quang Dien district, Thua Thien - Hue province

This study was conducted in summer autumn season 2013 and winter spring 2013-2014 on the salty soils of Quang Phuoc commune, Quang Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province, including 14 new salty tolerance rice varicties (Green Supe.r Rice), which KD18 was used as control. Objectives of the study are to select some new varieties with high yield, and adaptation with salty soil (salty degrec 8- 9%¬0). The results show that the new rice varieties had duratio: 119-136 days in summer autumn season and 138-152 days in winter spring season. In summer autumn season, they had the real yield 17.5-42.7 quintal/ha and 47.6-69.7 quintal/ha in winter spring 2013-2014. Two rice varieties were selected namely GSR50, GSR58 and GSR90 had performance of higher yield (30.8 - 40.7 quality/ha), grain quality and salt tolerant ability significantly better than control.
