To diversify existing soybean varieties and to increase soybean productivity of the region, since 2009 Agricultural Genetics Institute has carried out breeding and selection programs and has successfully created a new soybean varíety-DT2010. DT2010 was created by hybridization method from the combinations of DT2008 x DT99. It has many advantageous characteristics from its parents such as: vigorl growth, short stem (35 - 45 cm), short growth duration (80 - 88 days), yellow seedcoat, large seed size: 190 - 200 g per 1000 seeds, relatively high and stable yield (1.8 - 2.5 tons/ha), good tolerance to powdery mildew and downy mildew diseases, quite tolerance to drought and lodging, ease of propagation for the next crop, suitability for growing in 3 crops/year without the characteristic limitations of soybean varieties DT2008 and DT99 and suitability for the cropping system in the Red river delta.
