La investigación acerca de la dieta del venado de cola blanca se llevó a cabo durante el mes de marzo del 2009 en cuatro formaciones vegetales de la localidad del Tibisí, correspondiente a la Unidad Silvícola de Santa Lucía, Empresa Forestal Integral Minas de Matahambre. La misma tuvo como objetivo el determinar durante esta etapa las especies de plantas utilizadas por esta especie en la alimentación. Para la caracterización de la vegetación y la determinación de las plantas utilizadas por el venado en la alimentación en las cuatro formaciones vegetales, se seleccionaron 8 parcelas de las empleadas para el conteo de excretas, trazándose en cada una, cuatro parcelas rectangulares en dirección norte-sur, este-oeste, con una longitud de 11,2 m de largo por 1,50 m de ancho, para un total de 128 parcelas con estas características. En cada una de estas parcelas se determinó el número total de plantas por especies que apareció ramoneada y el número de veces en que cada una de estas estaba ramoneada. Se determinó que el venado cola blanca incluyó en su dieta durante el mes de marzo del 2009 un total de 13 especies vegetales en las cuatro formaciones, utilizando principalmente las hojas y brotes tiernos. Las especies de plantas incluidas en la dieta correspondieron a 8 familias botánicas, destacándose por el número de especies que la integran, la familia Rubiaceae.

The investigation about the diet of the deer of white line was carried out during the month of March of the 2009 in four areas of forests in the town of Tibisí, corresponding to the forestry unit of Santa Lucía, Integral forestry enterprise Mines deMatahambre. It had as objective determining during this stage the species of plants used by this species in the feeding. For the characterization of the vegetation and the determination of the plants used by the deer in the feeding in the four areas of forests. 8plots used for counting the excretes were selected and plotted in each four rectangular plots in North-South, East- West with the length of 11.2 m long and 1.50 wide, for a total of 128 parcels with these characteristics. It was determined that the deer included in its diet during the month of March of the 2009 a total of 13 vegetable species in the four areas of forests, using the leaves and tender buds mainly. The species of plants included in the diet corresponded to 8 botanical families, standing out for the number of species that integrate it:Rubiaceae family.
