The chemical compositions and particle size distribution in Bāles and Skudras Deposits were observed. It is shown that the usability of the Latvian sand in glass industry could be specified after sand enrichment, i.e., improving of chemical composition and particle size distribution. The main requirements for sand put forward by the building and metal industry are particle size and its distribution; but chemical composition is not so important. Therefore, mainly the Latvian quartz sand mines with SiO2 is less than 98% are useful for building industry.
