English. The book deals with forest monitoring as a set of forestry activities, in which the final product is obtained − a forest stand − a forest with its quantitative and qualitative indicators. It contains a historical chronological order of facts and figures on forest monitoring in the era of the proclamation of Latvia in 1918 to 2018. Forest monitoring, with all its nuances, is dealt with in each forest management cycle where it was to be organized and it happened. A special place in the chapter of the book is also given to forestry staff − foresters, whose result is the forest condition in Latvia during the corresponding period of time. The book will be useful to former, current and future foresters, as well as nature conservation, etc. interested parties.
