Teachers' integration of environmental awareness of selected public high schools in the First District of Oriental Mindoro [Philippines]

The study aimed to determine the relationship between teachers' integration of environmental awareness and level of sustainable development practices of selected public high schools in the First District of Oriental Mindoro [Philippines]. Using the descriptive studies, the questionnaires were distributed to students. The study found out that the teachers integrate environmental awareness topics on waste management, pollution, forest conservation and climate change on their class lessons. Teachers enable learners to gain knowledge on understanding global environmental issues. Teachers promote the value of community participation in preventing and resolving environmental problems. Teachers encourage their students to become more responsible environmental and sustainable citizenry. Therefore, teachers should continue considering social, economic, environment, and political aspects of environmental education. Teachers should update on environmental concepts to examine and contextualize environmental issues better and provide sufficient learning outcomes. Maximize the opportunity to sustain and improve the cooperation of local and national agencies to utilize more efficient and unified information on environmental education. Teachers should sustain the involvement of community in making a balanced perspective in resolving environmental problems. Further study and action researches on environmental awareness are recommended.
