Mango is grown over a vast area of Punjab and Sindh provinces. Unless a mango grower is aware of an improved horticultural practice, there are less chances of increase in the production. It results in decreasing per hectare yield of mango on one hand and declining the demand of Pakistani mangoes in international market on the other hand. The low yield/ha of mango in Pakistan is mainly attributed to different factors including non-adoption of production and protection practices by the mango growers. Therefore, the present study was designed to analyze the factors hampering the adoption of recommended production technology practices and to explore the reasons for non-adoption of recommendati6ns by the mango growers. The study was conducted in tehsil Saddar of district Multan, which consists of 47 union councils, of which 36 are rural and 11 are urban. Out of 36 rural union councils of Multan Saddar 5 union councils were selected randomly and from each union council two villages were selected randomly and from each village twelve mango growers were selected randomly, thereby making a sample size of 120 respondents. Interview schedule was used for collection of data. The data were analyzed, interpreted and tabulated through computer software Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) to interpret results and findings. It was expected that the present study would be helpful for the extension organizations for their course of action to enhance adoption of the latest techniques by the mango growers.
