With the introduction of modern techniques in every walk of life to save time and better outcomes, research activities on IP traffic monitoring have also been started to monitor the flow of traffic in overcrowded communities in a better manner. It can be only possible when we have availability of such monitoring hardware and large-scale storage at accessible costs. The present research work is a preliminary step in this regard. During present study, efficacy of 3G network using various techniques / methods are highlighted under laboratory work by using passive monitoring technique as cost-effective tool. Moreover, the availability of high-quality traces has exploited to predict the load of the network under hypothetical conditions. Variations in the actual network configuration at the capturing time has been recorded to optimization of tasks accordingly an operational 3G network.
