Role of some trees as roosts of house crow (Corvus splendens) in the cropland ecosystem of Faisalabad

Present regarding the daily foraging rhythms of house crow (Corvus splendens) in an agriculture Complex system of University of Agriculture, Faisalabad were extended for a period of ten weeks on maize (Zea mays), one of the important agricultural crops of Pakistan. Depredation on maize were recorded on the Control (unguarded) and guarded conditions in which the numerical values varied with weeks of observation. Observations in the unguarded conditions were fairly high 10.75 plus minus 3.14, while for the guarded (treated) conditions were 2.75 plus minus 0.75, which kept on increasing in the remaining weeks and were fairly reduced in the controlled (treated) conditions with protection available. Unquestionably, crows have proved perilously dangerous for post-harvest stages of maize and bring about substantial economic losses to farmers and stakeholders. It is, therefore, anticipated that mechanical repellents in their improved efficiencies would play important role in inhibiting such damage profiles in a Stainable manner for better crop quality and production in the Productive agro-ecosystem of Pakistan.
