the directions of enrichment of means of expressiveness and increase in esthetic potential of coloristic and plastic decisions in innovative highly artistic modern products of arts and crafts are considered in the article. In particular, decorative qualities of straws of cereals as source of material of one of the most ancient arts and crafts directions of folk art are discussed. The modern directions of development of art of creation of the modern innovative products from natural straws are described. Data on the modern knowledge concerning the genetic and soil and climatic factors influencing a natural painting of a culm of cereals which can be considered by preparation of the material for highly artistic creative operations differing in variety of natural color are provided. The advantage of the straws colored by natural connections is their ecological safety that is especially important when training in art of creation of products from straws of children of a preschool and low school age.
