PATRÓN DE CONSUMO Y ACEPTACIÓN DE PIENSOS CON INCLUSIÓN DE HARINA DE FOLLAJES DE TITHONIA DIVERSIFOLIA EN LA ALIMENTACIÓN DE CERDOS EN CEBA | CONSUMPTION AND ACCEPTATION PATTERN OF FEEDS WITH TITHONIA DIVERSIFOLIA FOLIAGE MEAL IN THE FEEDING OF FATTENING PIGS

Se utilizaron ocho cerdos machos castrados con peso de 29.5 ± 1.0 kg promedio de peso vivo y 75 días de edad, con el objetivo de determinar la aceptación y el patrón de consumo de dietas con la inclusión de harina de tithonia. Se utilizó un diseño doble cuadrado latino 4 x 4. Los tratamientos consistieron en: un control elaborado a partir de soya y maíz y tres tratamientos donde se incluyó el 10, 20 y 30 % de harina de tithonia. Cada muestreo tuvo 5 días de adaptación y 2 días de tomas de muestras. El experimento duró 28 días con 4 periodos de muestreo. Se midió el patrón de consumo durante las dos primeras horas de ofertado el alimento, en el que cada minuto se contabilizó individualmente los animales comiendo o bebiendo. El alimento fue restringido al 10 % w0.75.. Los animales que consumieron las dietas sin tithonia requirieron solo 50 minutos para el consumo total de las dietas, cuando se suministró tithonia el tiempo total fue de 120 minutos, hubo diferencias significativas para la velocidad de consumo y el tiempo de consumo a favor de la dieta sin tithonia. Los cerdos que consumieron tithonia tuvieron buena aceptación a las dietas y lograron consumirla totalmente, aunque la velocidad de ingestión de los alimentos fue inferior así como el tiempo de ingestión fue mayor cuando se utilizó la tithonia. Se requiriere continuar los estudios de adaptación a la dieta y comportamiento por la potencialidad que tiene este cultivo como fuente proteica para la sustitución de importaciones

There were used eight castrated males with average 29.5 ± 1.0 kg live weight and 75 days of age, in order to determine the acceptance and consumption pattern of diets with the inclusion of tithonia meal. It was applied a double 4 x 4 Latin square design. The treatments consisted of: a control one based on soybean and maize and three treatments where tithonia meal was included in 10, 20 and 30 %. Each sample had 5 days of adaptation and 2 days of sample collection. The experiment lasted 28 days with 4 periods of sampling. It was measured the consumption pattern for the first two hours after providing the food. It was measured by minute every animal individually when eating or drinking water. The food was restricted to 10 % w0.75.. The animals that consumed the tithonia-free diets required only 50 minutes for consuming all the food; when tithonia was administrated, the total time was 120 minutes; there were significant differences for consumption speed and rate in favor of the tithonia-free diet. Pigs that consumed tithonia had a good acceptance of the diets and consumed it totally; the speed of ingestion of the food was lower, though. Consumption rate was greater when tithonia was included. It is required to continue the studies of adaptation to the diet and performance of it, given the potenciality of this crop as a protein source for substituting imports.
