Design and implementation of a data warehouse on poverty-related databases in the Philippines

Albacea, J.P.V.J.
A lot of information is being collected from different sources and done in different ways resulting to an enormous data set which is being referred to, at present as 'big data'. The different sources include different organizations that are dedicated in data collection and organization. Another source where this useful information can come from is the government sector. The government handles and maintains different data sets that serve as a basis for the planning and decision-making processes in running the affairs of the country. Having multiple systems that monitor and handle different information usually limits the processes that can be made on all the data that are available. With the creation of a database that is holding an integrated version of the different data sets, more analyses will be possible for people to explore. Also, people will be able to start relating the different data that are available in all the databases and consequently understand the correlation and the trends that are present among the variables in the integrated database. With that in mind, the study aims to design and implement a data warehouse for mining data from several data sets by combining several major data sets to come up with an integrated database system or a data warehouse, setting up combined data sets from nationwide surveys and census for analysis by professionals, and providing some basic visualizations and analyses on the integrated database created.
