Agriculture and food processing industries are important for Serbia, participating in the creation of the country's GDP, with about 15%. Agricultural production, depending on various factors, primariliy climate, had pronounced fluctuations in production and the creation of GDP. Economic policy measures are inportant factor to successful agricultural production. New EU decision is to help its members to start a production of protein crops, and thus to release the import of meal from South America, enabling their own production which would satisfy their need for this product. Stimulation for the production of soy and other protein crops will have an impact not only for soybean price but also for sunflower price on the European market. Agricultural producers in Serbia ho have no incentives for this production will not be competitive in the market, because they were brought into the inferior and disadventageous position with producers fro the region.
