The purpose of our research was to appreciate the health status of oak species in different habitats in the central area of the Republic of Moldova. According to the ICP Forests Programme (ICP-Forests, 2010), the assessment of the health status of studied oaks was performed on the basis of biochemical indicators by determining the concentration of chlorophyll a and b, the content of heavy metals (Pb, Cu, Zn, Ni and Co) in the foliar material and visual estimation of characterization parameters for tree health status after defoliation of the crowns and discoloration of their foliage.
