We have improved the synthesis schemes of the main constituents of the noctuid moth sex pheromones: Heliothis armigera (cis-11-hexadecenol), Agrotis segetum (cis-7-dodecenyl acetate) and Agrotisexclamationis (cis-5-tetradecenyl acetate). The cost of the pheromones synthesized acording to modified scheme is reduced by 50% compared to the cost of those synthesized by standard schemes. In field tests (5 traps/pheromone, at intervals not less than 100 m) no significant differences were found between the studied pheromones and standard ones, as regards their biological efficiency, evaluated by the number of males attracted and captured by traps (on average over seven days per trap). The deviations from standard costituted: -1,3 males/7days/trap (Heliothis armigera pheromone); +0,1 (Agrotis exclamationis); -2 (Agrotis segetum). The synthesis methods developed by us allow to obtain the necessary quantities of pheromones for using in plant protection.
