In Nederland is in 2009 voor het eerst de Noord-Amerikaanse rus Juncus dudleyi Wiegand aangetroffen.De soort groeide met tientallen exemplaren in een recent afgegraven waterbergingsgebied ten zuidwesten van Nieuwleusen (Overijssel) op een vochtige tot natte zandige ondergrond. Begeleidende soorten zijn vooral pioniersoorten. Een veelvuldig begeleidende soort is de eveneens uit Noord-Amerika afkomstige soort J. tenuis Willd. Tezamen met beide soorten groeide een onbekende rus die, naar later bleek, nog niet voor de wetenschap bekend was en die de hybride is van beide eerder genoemde soorten. Deze hybride is J. ×sallandiae Corporaal & Schaminée genoemd, naar de naam van deze streek Salland. Opmerkelijk genoeg is deze hybride tot dusverre niet van Amerika bekend, hoewel beide soorten daar relatief veel in elkaars nabijheid voorkomen.The North American Rush species Juncus dudleyi Wiegand was first found in the Netherlands in 2009.The species occurred in great numbers on sandy soil in moist to wet places in a recently shallowlyexcavated water buffer area southwest of Nieuwleusen, Province of Overijsel. Most accompanying plant species were pioneer species. A frequently accompanying species was J. tenuis Willd., a longnaturalized Rush species which also originates from North America. Growing together with these two Rush species was an unknown Rush, which we have identified as the hybrid of these two Rush species. This hybrid is new to sciences and has been described here as J. ×sallandiae Corporaal & Schaminée. The epithet ‘sallandiae’ refers to the region of the Province of Overijssel where the hybrid was found, namely Salland.
