Level of awareness of barangay [village] officials of poblacion [central] Nasugbu [Batangas, Philippines] regarding natural disaster management

This study was designed to determine the level of awareness of barangay officials of Poblacion [Central] Nasugbu [Batangas, Philippines] regarding natural disaster management. It utilized the non- experimental descriptive type of research with the use of questionnaire as the main tool for data gathering. The respondents consisted of 95 barangay officials of Poblacion Nasugbu, Batangas. It was found out that majority of the respondents were male and at the age bracket of 39-45. The respondents are moderately aware of the disaster management in typhoon, earthquake, tsunami and volcanic eruption (ashfall). There is no significant difference in the level of awareness of barangay officials of Poblacion, Nasugbu regarding natural disaster management when grouped according to age. Based on the result of the study, it is recommended for the Philippine government to sustain the active involvement of the national and local government by conducting regular trainings and seminars about natural disaster management and cascading of vital information to each barangays of Nasugbu, Batangas.
