Development of multi-purpose wood lathe machine (MWLM)

In response to the One Town One Product (OTOP) program of the Philippine government, the upland municipalities of La Union, namely: San Gabriel, Bagulin, Burgos, Sudipen, and Santol engaged in the production of soft brooms. However, the producers have experienced problems in the handles of the soft broom. Thus, this study was conducted to develop a Multi-purpose Wood Lathe Machine (MWLM) that will combine a circular saw with the lathe machine to produce better soft broom handles. Using project development, descriptive-evaluative research design, the study proved that the design and fabrication of the MWLM are feasible. Said machine was validated by technology experts and end-users with high ratings. It was found out that the Multipurpose Wood Lathe Machine performed well and highly acceptable. The researcher recommends its adoption and commercialization.
