Recent Advances in Research on Botrytis Gray Mold of Chickpea Summary Proceedings of the Second Working Group Meeting to discuss collaborative research on Botrytis Gray Mold of Chickpea 14-17 March 1993
2011
Botrytis gray mold (BGM) is a crucial biotic constraint to chickpea production in several South Asiancountries. This publication contains summaries of the findings and recommendations made at the SecondWorking Group Meeting on BGM of chickpea (Rampur, Nepal, 14-17 Mar 1993). Research progressduring the past two years in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Nepal is reviewed. The present status ofBGM management, and future research priorities, are discussed. Nine papers on BGM of chickpea arepresented, dealing with such aspects as resistance screening and multilocational trials, breeding programs, disease management, and the role of crop microclimate. The discussions suggest that since highlevel resistance is presently unavailable, an integrated disease management program should be pursued, using a combination of moderately resistant cultivars, modified cultural methods, and judicious use ofchemicals
