Present work describes comparison of the results of studies of anhtioxidatantcharacteristics of yarrow (Achillea millefolium L.) from repaired dump “Žitkovac” andtailing pond “Gornje polje“, of Mining and Metalurgical Chemical Company „Trepča“with samples near city of Niš. Metanol extracts from habitats near city of Niš haveincreased values of antioxidative scavening activity against DPPH radical, highertotal flavonoid content (TFC) and total polyfphenolic content (TPC) versus samplesfrom repaired dump and tailing pond. Having in mind these findings, and increasedcontent of heavy metals in samples from repaired dump and tailing pond, it is notrecommendable its usage for medicinal purposes.
