Nicosulfuron residues on selected weeds and cultivated plants

Influence of residues of herbicides applied in previous year, on next cultivated crop is of great importance due to the occurrence of phytotoxicity. Understanding the nature of the herbicide residues in soil is important for farmers due to crop rotation organization. Aim of this study was to determine effect of residues of nicosulfuron from soil on Triticum vulgare L., Beta vulgaris L., Echinochloa crus galli L. and Chenopodium album L. Experiment was carried out in laboratory conditions using biotests. Used nicosulfuron concentrations was: 0,96 mg/kg, 0,52 mg/kg, 0,34 mg/kg, 0,22 mg/kg, 0,07 mg/kg. Obtained results indicate inhibitory effect of applied concentrations of nicosulfuron on germination and growth of cluster of all investigated plant species. B. vulgaris exhibits a higher sensitivity of T. vulgare, whereas the E. crus-galli sensitive reacted by C. album. The results must be considered when sowing T. vulgare and B. vulgaris after applying nicosulfuron in maize last year.
