Premature culling of cows that did not reach maximum life milk production is a significant economic loss for breeders. For this reason, the aim of this study was to determine which are the most important reasons that influence the culling of dairy cows in AP Vojvodina. The study used the data on the number and reasons for the culling of 7852 Holstein Friesian, 2196 Simmental and 45 Brown Swiss cows that were under the control of productivity in AP Vojvodina in the period from 01.10.2015. to 30.09.2016. The data were divided by breed, reasons for culling, parities, seasons and regions. The most prevalent unwanted reasons for culling in all three breeds was sterility and reproductive problems in the amount of 17.29%, 14,39% and 73,33% for Holstein Friesian, Simmental and Brown Swiss, respectively. The second place was different among breeds: low and decreased production (Holstein Friesian), diseases of internal organs (Simmental) and infective diseases (Brown Swiss). The largest number of cows in Holstein Friesian and Simmental breeds were culled before the first calving, in the amount of 24.34% and 40.66%, respectively, while in Brown Swiss breed that was in fourth lactation (24.44%). The highest number of culling in Holstein Friesian was in the winter season (34,02%), in Simmental in autumn (33,42%) and in Brown Swiss in the summer season (91,11%). In further work, it is necessary to continue with the determination of the main causes of culling of cows, as well as the best ways of their elimination.
