Yield and quality can be achieved by heating to increase in greenhouses. However, in most of the greenhouses the heating system is not used in the Mediterranean region where greenhouse is widely used in our country. The initial investment costs of heating systems are high. Unpredictable energy costs and profitability are another obstacle for producers. Many different parameters play an important role in the calculation of the heating load to the surroundings. Such as regional long-term climate data, greenhouse cover material type and quality, thermal screen usage, type of thermal screen, heating system, greenhouse tightness condition, plant species, solar radiation, wind, lighting, etc. Also the heating load to be calculated is the basic criterion for determining the heating power of the system to be projected. For this reason, accurate calculations are important in terms of investment cost and system efficiency.In this study, different types of greenhouses for Kahramanmaras region and heating load, which is the basis of heating system projects according to heat saving, have been determined by expert system software and compared to other regions, potential of Kahramanmaras for greenhouse production has been assessed.
