English. It is more and more necessary to make the best out of irrigation water. Indicators of the water level of the soil, the plant or the groundcover can contribute to improve water management by allowing a better use of the water supplied. The interest of these indicators is illustrated by projects conducted on soy bean and sorghum at the Cemagref in Montpellier.
