Aspects of the rational use of genetic resources of medicinal and aromatic plants in Samtskhe-Javakheti.

The rich and unique phytogenetic pool of Georgia represents a natural-historical treasure and requires permanent conservation-rehabilitation, as it progressively exterminated or changed under the influence of various natural disasters or manmade activity. Here spread are the unique medical and aromatic plants, which cannot be found anywhere in the world. Due to their current state, most of these plants are on the verge of extinction. Our recommendations include the protection of the genetic resources of medicinal and aromatic plants, including rare and endangered species, conservation of ex situ and in situ conservation of biodiversity, due regard for climate change, creation of a seed bank, the development of innovative technologies for sustainable use and cultivation of plant resources in the region of Samtskhe-Javakheti.
