Dolomite and limestone are sedimentary carbonate rocks. They contain similar compound but the main difference is the amount of MgO and CaO in each rock which can be differentiated by XRF. Analysis of sample from the Felda Rimba Mas Dolomite Quarry shows that the MgO content is 23% while that of CaO is 33.78% thus not meeting the specification for manufacturing cement. Cement requires more than 47% CaO and less than 5% MgO XRF results on limestone sample from the ClMA Quarry show the content of CaO is 54.88% and that of MgO is 0.53% thus is suitable for cement manufacturing.
