Effects of sepiolite usage in lamb grower concentrate feed on pellet production parameters and pellet quality characteristics

The purpose of this experiment was to determine the effects of sepiolite usage inlamb grower concentrate feed on pellet production parameters and pellet quality underregular industrial conditions. Experiment was done in a commercial feed factory andconsisted of one control and one treatment group with 5 batches each and 2 tons per batch.Control group pelleted concentrate feed contained 15.47% crude protein and 9.96% crudefibre. For the treatment group concentrate feed 1% sepiolite (Exal T) was used as topdressed in the mixer. Energy consumption during pellet manufacturing was decreased withsepiolite supplementation (P<0.001). Pellet durability index (PDI) was enhanced withsepiolite supplementation (P<0.001). As a conclusion 1% sepiolite as top dressed may beused during pellet manufacturing of lamb grower concentrate feeds to decrease energyconsumption and increase pellet durability index.
