Main productivity and body measurement traits of Hamdani ewes in Hakkari

This research has been carried out to determine the main production traits and body measurements of Hamdani sheep in Çığlı village of Çukurca district, Hakkari.The adjusted mean values of birth weight, weaning weight, 30th, 60th, 90th, 120th, 150th and 180th days live weight of Hamdani lambs born between the December 2012 - February 2013 were found to be 4.13 ± 0.21, 21.78 ± 1.30, 10.61 ± 0.72, 15.86 ± 1.12, 21.78 ± 1.30, 26.37 ± 1.46, 30.76 ± 1.61 and 35.09 ± 1.62 kg, respectively. The rate of reproductive traits Hamdani sheep who gave birth between December 2012 - February 2013 such as sterlity, fertility, twining, fecundity, litter size and gestation productivity were found to be 8 %, 92 %, 13.05 %, 1.04, 1.13 and 422.37 kg, respectively. Lactation length and lactation milk yield were found to be 170.98 ± 10.72 days and 83.96 ± 11.55 lt, respectively. The adjusted values average greasy fleece weight in Hamdani sheep was found to be 2.297 ± 0.13 kg.The adjusted values related to body measurements such as withers height, body length, chest width, chest depth, chest circumference and leg circumference for Hamdani sheep were found to be 68.47 ± 1.21, 66.20 ± 0.80, 22.34 ± 0.66, 32.25 ± 0.92, 99.62 ± 0.94 ve 65.51 ± 0.78 cm, respectively.The survival rate for lambs were found to be 98.5 %, 94.6 % and 93.9 % for from birth, from birth to 90th (weaning age) and from birth to 180th days of age, respectively.The results indicated that main productivity and body measurement traits of Hamdani ewes were concluded to be comparable determined by the characteristics of the study on other domestic sheep breeds.
