The participants of this pre-conference workshop will learn to conduct various econometricanalyses with R. In order to achieve this, the workshop will mostly consist of practical exercises.The workshop will be divided into two parts. The first part will give an introductionto R with special emphasis on applications in agricultural economics and applied microeconometrics.This part of the workshop will be designed for participants who have no or onlylittle experience with R. The second part of the workshop will be designed for participants whohave at least a little experience in R, e.g. obtained in the first part of the workshop. The participantswill learn to prepare and aggregate data; estimate production functions using OLSand panel data methods and calculate elasticities based on the estimation results; conductefficiency analysis using Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) and Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA); and use nonparametric kernel regression.
