The biodiversity of Kakheti forests is conditioned by the diversity of climate and landscape. Both subtropical and steppe landscapes can be found here. Kakheti region includes the inland and lower reaches of the Iori River and the Alazani River Basin - with numerous tributaries. Both subtropical and steppe landscapes can be found here. Kakheti region includes the inland and lower reaches of the Iori River and the Alazani River Basin - with numerous tributaries. The region currently includes - outer Kakheti (middle of the Iori River), Kiziki (the area between the Iori River and the lower reaches of the Alazani River), Shida Kakheti (right bank of the Alazani River) and Gaghma Mkhari (left bank of the Alazani River), where we conducted research.
