The aim of the paper is to develop the sustainable rural development mechanism in the Republic of Moldova by using some fundamental conceptual approaches that help us for defining optimal mathematical models that describe the agricultural growth of the regional economy. The applicative importance of the econometric methods are in describing the rural area by using the stochastic frontier analysis and is argued in the research by the ANOVA dispersion analysis. The theoretical basis of the pillar 1 and 2 components in rural development requires the defining of the economical aggregate indicator - the rating of agricultural holdings evaluated by the distance function methodology in which the exponential Cobb-Douglas frontier is used as a production function. The presented analysis attests the high level correlation of the household efficiency with the corresponding stochastic frontier for the optimal agricultural technology.
