The Water Framework Directive, accompanied by legislation in force in Republika Srpska, makes recommendations on how to integrally manage the waters in order to achieve the "good status" of the water bodies, which is also the main goal of FWD. The area of the Trebisnjica River Basin, with all its characteristics, represents an area of multi-purpose system, where it is very important to harmonize the needs of multi-purpose use of water resources with the aim of maintaining the existing condition and establishing good water status on water bodies on which the anthropogenic action has violated that quality. This paper presents the current condition of surface waters expressed through water status based on analysis of available biological, physical and chemical and hydro morphological data.
