The aim of this study is the assessment of ecological status of Zasavica by phytoplankton, 20 years after the proclamation of Special Nature Reserve. Samples were collected during 2018and 2019 from two localities. 112 newly recorded taxa contribute to the total of 554 microalgal taxa registered so far in the phytoplankton and metaphyton of Zasavica. The results of the quantitative analysis show the expected dynamic of phytoplankton with the summer dominance of cyanobacteria and refer to the moderate ecological status, which representdeterioration in quality compared to the estimation in 2013. However, summer months were analyzed mostly, so there is a hope that the equilibrium is still not significantly disturbed in this important ecosystem.
