One of the burning current issues is the availability of hygienically safe drinking water, the insufficient number of sewer networks for collection and disposal of fecal water, and the lack of wastewater treatment facilities. This paper analyzes the aspects of environmental protection in the public utility system of the city of Čačak with an emphasis water supply and sewerage. The most relevant conclusions consider the importance of building the Svračkovo dam and wastewater treatment plant in Čačak.
