Animal farming on commercial-industrial farms has experienced an expansion in the last few decades both in the world and in Serbia. The reason for this phenomenon is the constant migration of the population from the village to the cities. In this sense, the production of foods of animal origin demanded a constant genetic selection of domestic animals to high production. However, genetic predisposition to high production has led to an increasing frequency of the emergence of health disorders, which consequently reflect reproduction. For example, the selection for high milk yield, made modern dairy cows much more susceptible to possible mistakes in upbringing and nutrition. The autochthonous (old-primitive) breed is often followed by the "mother-cub" system of keeping, and the fact is that high production does not burden the basic physiological mechanisms in the same way as in high-production breeds. Their resistance to the bad, often the harsh conditions in which they live are much higher, and dependence on people is much smaller. It is precisely for these reasons that the need to conserve genetic resources through the use of modern methods of assisted reproduction and biotechnology is growing.
