This paper presents breeding diseases and health control measures as the primary tasks of the veterinary service, which is responsible for protecting the health of pigs. The promotion of good pig health in both intensive and extensive breeding, assume the use of very different preventive measures. In addition to good breed selection, herd size design, ways of applying biotechnology-poor measures in the pig production process, preventive measures are of great importance for health. The veterinary service plays a very important role especially from the point of view of ecology "how to produce as much but healthy food intended for human consumption", with appropriate environmental protection, which can only be confirmed by responsible and conscientious work. With the health care of pigs, by applying significantly more of the preventive measures and less therapeutic measures, the concept of more cost-effectiveproduction and safety of "table steak" can be fulfilled
