Drought Assessment Of Turkey Based On The Provinces

It is very important in the agriculture sector as well as in all the sectors that the climate changeis the result of what happens in our country and what the consequences will be in the future.Determination of arid periods will be very useful in the work to be done on issues such as agriculturalpractices, planning of irrigation time and struggle with desertification and erosion. In addition, thedetermination of a drought period in a region will benefit from precautionary measures againstpossible drought risk in that region. In this study, Bagnouls-Gaussen drought indices were calculatedby using average total monthly precipitation amounts and average monthly temperature data of 81 meteorological stations in Turkey, and drought periods were determined according to the provinces and province based drought map was prepared. It was tried to be determined changes in the last 15 years using the result data. According to this, during the last 15 years in our country, the humid area decreased by 0.01% and the dry areas by 1.79%, while it increased by 1.25% in semihumidareas and by 0.56% in very dry areas. From north to south the drought is increasing; some of theAegean, Mediterranean and Eastern Anatolian Regions and Southeastern Anatolia Region are veryarid, some of Trakya and the Black Sea are in semi-humid class. Interior regions were arid when thehumid class was located only on the Black Sea shores.
