Demand for Sugar of at Least High-School-Educated Population in Czech Republic

The objective of this text was to present the results of an own research conducted on a group of residents of the Czech Republic with at least secondary education. The article provides an overview of sugar consumption in the Czech Republic and the factors affecting the demand for sugar and the way in which the population takes sugar. The issue of sweetening and, in particular, the negative effects of sugar on human health is currently being widely discussed. Despite that, the demand for sugar, and thus its consumption, turns out to be relatively stable at around 35 kg per person per year. The results of the survey show that 59% of men and 58% of women of the monitored group take sugar. Regarding the age composition of the respondents, the generation between 0 and 40 years of age sweetens the most (on average 65% of respondents).
