English. The objective of this research was to analyze the effect of the variables introduced by the project on the adoption level of friendly soil uses with the environment. The adoption level is measured through a compound index that qualifies each soil use present in the farMON according to its contribution level to the protection of the biodiversity and the capacity to fix carbon. The farMON were evaluated of the beginning of the project to establish a base line (2003) and the a new evaluation in the 2004 was carried out. The incremental points were assessed in the compound index for each farm and based on the obtained value of the payment for environmental services (PES) was carried out. This research took into account a total of 267 farMON: 132 in Costa Rica and 135 in Nicaragua. Among the most important conclusions was found, in the case of Costa Rica, the farMON that receives PSA (Groups B and C) they have obtained incremental points average statistically for farMON higher to the one obtained by the Group A (group control), that which indicates the adoption you uses of friendly soil with the atmosphere on the part of the groups that benefit with the PSA. In the case of Nicaragua, since the groups that receives PSA (Groups B and C) presented points average by farMON for the 2004, statistically higher to the one obrained by the Group A, indicates a positive effect in the adoption of soil uses proposed.

Spanish; Castilian. El objetivo de esta investigación fue analizar el efecto de las variables introducidas por el proyecto sobre el nivel de adopción de usos de suelo amigables con el ambiente. El nivel de adopción se mide a través de un "índice compuesto" que califica cada uso de suelo presente en las fincas de acuerdo a su nivel de contribución a la protección de la biodiversidad y a la capacidad para fijar carbono. Las fincas fueron evaluadas al inicio del proyecto para establecer una línea base (2003) y se realizó una nueva evaluación en el 2004, así se determinaron los puntos de incremento en el "índice compuesto" para cada finca y en base al valor obtenido se realizó el pago por servicios ambientalejs (PSA). Esta investigación tomó en cuenta un total de 267 fincas, distribuidas de la siguiente manera: 132 en Costa Rica y 135 en Nicaragua. Entre las conclusiones más relevantes se encontró que, en el caso de Costa Rica, las fincas que reciben PSA (Grupos B y C) han obtenido puntajes incrementales promedio por finca estadísticamente superiores al obtenido por el Grupo A (grupo control), lo cual indica la adopción se uso de suelo amigable con el ambiente por parte de los grupos que se benefician con el PSA (Grupos B y C) presentaron puntajes promedio por hectáreas para el 2004, estadísticamente superiores al obtenido por el Grupo A, lo que indica un efecto positivo; sin embargo, los tres grupos presentaron valores en el puntaje incremental promedio por hectárea estadísticamente iguales.
