Present conditions of forests of Georgia and existed challenges.

Most of Georgia's forests are currently degraded and require urgent restoration measures. Beech forests were the most damaged because of the best properties and value of their timber. The long-term licenses issued to foreign entrepreneurs in 2006-2012 caused great damage to beech forests, which did not bring significant profit to the country's budget. On the contrary, they caused material and ecological damage to beech forests. We will still reap the negative consequences of such arbitrary decisions in the future. In order to prevent such harmful decisions, it is necessary to introduce and implement the universally recognized principles of sustainable development of forests, which will not give some governments the right to make decisions that are harmful to the country's biodiversity and ecology.
