Show more [+] Less [-]Las fincas de los Ngöbe contienen al menos siete sistemas agroforestales, incluyendo cacao, café, cultivos anuales, musáceas, potreros, huertos caseros y rastrojos. Se identificaron 115 especies arbóreas y 8 especies de palmas 46 por ciento son maderables, 19 por ciento de uso doméstico, 14 por ciento alimenticias y el 21 por ciento de varios usos. Entre las maderables, hay especies de alto valor comercial como Cordia alliodora, Cedrela odorata y Aspidosperma megalocarpum, pero los Ngöbe desconocen el valor potencial de 32 especies maderables que no tienen mercado local. Los terrenos con cultivos anuales, cacaotales, potreros y reservas de Welfia georgii contienen la mayor cantidad de madera.The Ngöbe farms contain at least seven agroforestry systems, including plantations of cacao, coffee, annual crops, Musaceae, pastures, homegardens and slash and burn systems. 115 tree and 8 palm species were identified, of which 46% produce timber, 19% have domestic uses, 14% provide food and 21% have various uses. Amongst the timber producing trees, some have a high value, such as cordia alliodora, Cedrela odorata and Aspidosperma inegolocapium, but the Ngöbe are not aware of the commercial potential of 32 other timber species, which have no local market. The areas used for annual crops, cocoa, pastures and Wlfia georgii reserves contain the largest amounts of timber.
