English. In equilibrated nutritive solutions osmotic pressures of 0.6, 3.2 and 5.0 atm have been applied to a lettuce plant. The increase of the osmotic pressure produces a decrease in the fresh material as much to the aerial part as to the root, also, it produces an increase in the content of mineral elements and a great imbalance in the cationic relations as response to the plant to raise its internal osmotic pressure.
