Moisture content correction for electrical resistance-type moisture meter [wood, Peninsular Malaysia]
1982
Choo, K.T. | Grewal, G.S. (Forest Research Inst., Kepong (Malaysia))
The operation of electrical moisture meters is based on the relationships between moisture content and associated electrical properties, and is satisfactory within certain limitations. The moisture meters have been used extensively in Peninsular Malaysia for instantaneous estimation of the moisture content of wood without the necessity of cutting moisture content samples. It is important that the moisture content of wood be correctly determined, so that the dimensional stability of the end-products is ensured. This is particularly vital to the efficient utilization of the timbers. Calibration of the Delmhorst RC-2 Electrical Resistance-type meter was carried out for 48 species of Peninsular Malaysia timbers and the results of this calibration are given in the form of a species moisture content correction chart
