Performance and economic evaluation of Holstein Friesian cows in semi-commercial farms of Batangas province, Philippines

This study evaluated productive and reproductive performance and economy of milk production of Holstein Friesian cows in semi-commercial conditions of Batangas. For the whole population, mean for 305 days milk production was 1926, 2687, 2756 and 3004 kg for the first to the fourth lactation, respectively. Mean age at first calving was 920 days and calving interval was 470, 426 and 382 days after the first, second and third calving, respectively. Considering all farms as one population, productive and reproductive performances were satisfactory. Financially, all farms were losing on the average
